Applications for the "My Dream Laboratory" Painting Competition are now open.

Draw Your Dreams, Leave Your Mark on the Future!

Organized in collaboration with the TÜBİTAK Bursa Testing and Analysis Laboratory (BUTAL) Directorate and the TÜBİTAK Science and Society (BİTO) Presidency, the traditional Painting Competition with the theme "Laboratory" will have the topic "My Dream Laboratory" in 2026!

The Purpose of the "My Dream Laboratory" Drawing Contest;

  • In today's world, where science and technology are rapidly developing and changing, the aim is to raise awareness among students about the importance of testing/analysis and what it adds to our lives, to develop their level of consciousness, and to encourage them to use their imagination to develop their talents.

Who Can Participate?

All elementary school and middle school students enrolled in schools across Turkey can participate in the competition free of charge.

How do I participate?

  • Theme of the Competition: Laboratories This topic must be addressed in the images submitted to the competition.
  • Technique: Pastel, watercolor, gouache, charcoal pencil, graphite pencil, or any free technique may be used on 35 x 50 cm drawing paper/cardboard/canson/bristol board. Only one of these techniques should be used in the submitted artwork.
  • Application: The application form must be completed and a high-quality photograph or scanned copy of the artwork must be uploaded to the relevant page by March 13, 2026, at the latest.

Evaluation and Awards

If the entire work and/or part of it has been created by artificial intelligence or inspired by it, it will not be considered for evaluation.

The works will be evaluated by the Advisory and Evaluation Board based on criteria such as originality, painting technique, composition, and suitability for purpose.

In the first stage, evaluation will only be conducted digitally, and works will not be collected physically at this stage. The original copies of works that pass the preliminary evaluation stage must be sent to the address specified in the Competition Rules, along with the student's participation form and student ID, no later than March 13, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

Based on the evaluations, the works deemed worthy of an award will be ranked first, second, and third in two different categories (elementary school and middle school). In addition to the top three, three works with the highest scores in each category will be selected for exhibition.

  • First Place Prize: 25,000 TL
  • Second Place Prize: 20,000 TL
  • Third Place Prize: 15,000 TL


Students who win first, second, and third place will receive a one-year subscription to the TÜBİTAK Popular Science Magazine and a set of books from TÜBİTAK Popular Science Publications.

Leave Your Mark on History with Your Work!

A total of 12 works selected from the elementary and middle school categories, including those that win awards, will be featured in the 2027 TÜBİTAK BUTAL Desk Calendar. The authors of the works featured in the TÜBİTAK BUTAL 2027 desk calendar will receive a book set from TÜBİTAK Popular Science Publications as a gift.

Award Ceremony

The winners of the competition will be announced at an award ceremony to be held at the TÜBİTAK BUTAL campus on a date to be determined in May. The winning entries and those reaching the final round will be exhibited at a location and under conditions deemed appropriate by TÜBİTAK.
