The traditional Painting Contest with the theme of "Laboratory," organized in collaboration with TÜBİTAK Bursa Test and Analysis Laboratory (BUTAL) Directorate and TÜBİTAK Science and Society (BİTO) Directorate, returns in 2025 with an exciting new theme: "Smart Laboratories"!
About the "Smart Laboratories" Painting Contest
- Showcase the importance of smart laboratories shaping the future of science and technology through your visual storytelling skills.
- Explore the concept of "Smart Laboratories" creatively and aesthetically with the power of your imagination.
- Combine science and technology with art, and seize the opportunity to display your talents.
Who Can Participate?
All primary and middle school students across Türkiye can participate in the contest free of charge.
How to Participate?
- Theme of the Competition: Laboratories
- Subject of the Competition: "Smart Laboratories." The artworks submitted should reflect this theme.
- Technique: Artwork must be created on paper/cardboard (35 x 50 cm) using one of the following: pastel, watercolor, gouache, marker, pencil, or any other single medium. Only one technique should be used in each artwork.
- Submission: Fill out the application form and upload a high-quality photo or scanned image of the artwork to the designated platform by February 2, 2025.
Evaluation and Awards
The artworks will be evaluated by an Advisory and Evaluation Committee based on criteria such as originality, artistic technique, composition, and alignment with the theme. In the initial phase, only digital evaluations will be conducted, and physical artworks will not be collected. Finalists will be required to submit their original artwork, along with the participation form and proof of student status, to the address specified in the Contest Guidelines by February 25, 2025, 5:00 PM.
Winners will be selected in two categories (primary and middle school): first, second, and third places in each category. Additionally, 15 artworks with the highest scores in each category (apart from the top three) will be selected for exhibition.
- First Prize 25.000 TL
- Second Prize: 15.000 TL
- Third Prize: 10.000 TL
Winners of the first, second, and third prizes will also receive a one-year subscription to TÜBİTAK Popular Science Magazine and a book set from TÜBİTAK Popular Science Publications.
Make Your Mark on History!
A total of 12 selected artworks (including prize-winning pieces) from the primary and middle school categories will be featured in the 2026 TÜBİTAK BUTAL Desk Calendar. The artists of these featured works will also receive a book set from TÜBİTAK Popular Science Publications.
Award Ceremony
The winners will be announced at an award ceremony to be held at the TÜBİTAK BUTAL campus on a date to be specified between March 8–14, 2025. The winning and finalist artworks will be exhibited at venues and under conditions deemed appropriate by TÜBİTAK.
