TÜBİTAK BUTAL met with students aged 10-14 with the BUTAL Workshop at the "7th Turkish Airlines Science Expo Science Festival" organized by Bursa Science and Technology Center between 26-29 April 2018 at TÜYAP Bursa Fair and Congress Center with the theme of "Future Technologies".
Workshops;
- BUTAL Food and Agricultural Chemistry Laboratory explained to the students the purpose for which water soluble solids (brix) analysis is used in various fruit juices, and practical analysis was shown in the refractometer device. The compliance of the analysis results with the food codex was compared.
- BUTAL Chemistry-Environment Laboratory gave basic information about the concept of pH and demonstrated how the pH values of materials used in daily life such as orange juice, cola, lemon, water, soda, milk, spinach, liquid soap, etc. are determined both with pH meters and pH papers.
- BUTAL Material-Textile Laboratory demonstrated with the Twisting Device how the twisting process takes place by rotating the fibers parallel to each other around their own axis in order to keep the fibers together and turn them into yarn.
