An international training program on "Waste Management in Leather Production and Ecological Leather Organized Industrial Zones" was held at TÜBİTAK BUTAL in cooperation with Turkey - UNIDO for developing Asian and African countries and Turkic Republics.
Within the scope of the program organized by TUBITAK BUTAL between 02-13 May 2017 with the cooperation and support of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), 18 trainees from different countries participated:
- Establishment and Settlement of Sustainable and Environmentally Friendly Leather OIZs
- Clean Production Technologies in Leather Industry
- Prohibited Chemicals in Leather Production
- Utilization Areas of Solid Wastes in Leather Industry
- Quality Control Techniques Applied in Leather Production
- Energy Management and Consumption in Leather Industry
- Water and Solid Waste Treatment Technologies in Leather Production
The topics were covered theoretically and practically by the experts of the leather industry and university faculty members, and the knowledge and experience of our country on the settlement of leather organized industrial zones and tanneries were shared.
Participants from developing countries also visited TUBITAK Marmara Research Center Environment and Cleaner Production Institute, Tuzla Leather OIZ and Bursa Specialized Leather Organized Industrial Zones and had the opportunity to get to know sustainable clean production technologies in the leather sector, treatment facilities and residential parks in leather industrial zones where the latest technological innovations in the sector are applied.
